Dr. Winkler obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 from Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. Originally from New York City, Dr. Winkler attended the University of Vermont and received a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. During 2001, Dr. Winkler took a year off of school to coordinate veterinary medical care for the Search and Rescue Dogs who were working at Ground Zero, while working at a small animal practice in Manhattan, New York. Her passion for equine medicine stems from summers spent in Germany with her family. In Germany, she was able to visit various stables to her heart’s content and developed a love of horses. While in veterinary school, she received the New Jersey Horse Council Equine Veterinary Student Work Fellowship, which allowed her to shadow equine veterinarians, and exposed her to many varieties of equine veterinary practice. She completed a Large Animal Neonatal Intensive Care Rotation at the University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Winkler’s interests cover all facets of equine medicine, and she is involved in every aspect of the The Equine Center’s caseload. Dr. Winkler has become an valuable asset to our practice and she will be staying through next year as an associate veterinarian. |
