Prior to attaining her veterinary degree, Dr. Nagy
worked as a professional horsewoman with 3-day event horses and racehorses
in the United Kingdom and with hunter-jumpers in southern Florida. This
first career sparked a deep interest and commitment to the concerns of sport
horses and motivated her to return to school and pursue a degree in
veterinary medicine.
She received her veterinary training at the University
of Pennsylvania, graduated in 2002 and then completed an equine internship
at Byron Reid and Associates in Loxahatchee, Florida. After her internship
she returned to New Bolton Center and spent a year as a Research Associate
with Dr. James Orsini in the surgery department. Dr. Nagy then moved to
Austria where she spent 2 ½ years training as a surgeon under an ACVS
Diplomate at the Veterinary University of Vienna. During this time she
developed a keen interest in surgical colic and critical care. She returned
to the United States to pursue a Master’s degree in equine surgical colic
with Dr. Nathaniel White at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of
Veterinary Medicine.
Dr. Nagy is excited to join the Equine Center as a
staff surgeon and looks forward to becoming an active member of the local
horse community. She enjoys running, cycling and taking long hikes with her
dog Lola.
